Join the Contributor evening and/or Community afternoon

Contributor evening, Friday 27 March

During the first day of WordCamp Antwerp 2020, we have a sweet line-up of speakers during the day. In the evening, (6 PM > 10 PM) we are planning a contributor evening in the same venue as last edition, namely the Via Via Reiscafe.

This means that space is limited. We have opened a Google Form so you can register to be part of our Contributor Evening. If you want to be there, don’t wait till the very end to register for this event as we might need to close the registration form when we hit the limit of attendees. You do need a WordCamp ticket to be part of this.

You can find all information and a link to the Contributor evening registration form here.

Community afternoon, Sunday 29 March

On the last day (insert sad face here) of our WordCamp, Sunday 29th March, we plan to have a nice afternoon starting at 1 PM. This means you’ll have enough time to get some sleep after the afterparty on Saturday night!

We’ll take you through central Antwerp, do some sightseeing and tell you all about the city. During the walk, we plan to have some activities/tasks you’ll need to solve in teams. The winning team will receive a nice reward.

You can find more information about our Community afternoon here including a link to register for the Community Afternoon.

We hope to see you all there! If you have any questions about either event, please do reach out in the #wcantwerp channel on the WPBelgium Slack workspace.

Help us out. Call for volunteers!

Ever felt like returning a favor to WordPress, this is your chance! The organizing team is looking for help to make WordCamp Antwerp 2020 as smooth as the first two editions! We need you!

What are volunteers?

Volunteers will be our helping hands on the 2 WordCamp conference days. Meeting attendees, helping out with speakers and helping to make sure that the third Belgian WordCamp runs smoothly!

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, organized, energetic, and who love WordPress. You do not need any WordCamp experience to join our team! If you are new to the WordPress community, volunteering is a very nice way to ease in and get to know people quickly.

What do you get in return?

  • Get an inside look at the planning stages of the conference.
  • Be an essential part of the event on the WordCamp itself. Without you, the WordCamp wouldn’t be possible.
  • Have the opportunity to meet interesting WordPress people.
  • Receive kudos for your time, attention and efforts.
  • Ticket to the WordCamp.
  • Volunteer hoodie/shirt.

We’ll make sure that every volunteer has time to enjoy the conference as well. Volunteering shouldn’t feel like you are working.

What do we need help with?

We need people to help out beforehand and at the weekend. We’ll try and give you a task that suits you and we’ll make sure everybody can actually enjoy the WordCamp as well: you won’t be parked at the door all day. Tasks that you may find yourself doing include:

  • Registration desk
  • Keep an eye on the entrance and floors
  • Putting together swag bags
  • Helping speakers before and during their talks
  • Running around with microphones during Q&A sessions
  • Moving people around
  • General administration

Expectations

Volunteers are expected to arrive in the early morning on the WordCamp day that you are scheduled. We’ll communicate this upfront and invite you to a volunteers-only channel on our WPBelgium Slack to communicate.

We are unable to cover expenses for volunteers, which means that if you want to get involved, you will need to cover the costs of traveling to and staying in Antwerp.

Great! How do I sign up?

Fill in the Call for Volunteer form and we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, don’t buy your ticket yet. If you’re selected as a WordCamp volunteer, you get a free ticket.

If you have any questions regarding volunteering on our WordCamp, please feel free to send us an e-mail.
